Groceries to Go - "Smile on Wheels"

Are you unable to get out and shop for groceries yourself? If you meet the requirements for this program, you can get groceries delivered to your home by a volunteer.

Who Is Eligible?
The Groceries to Go program is available to seniors who are 60 years of age or older, have difficulty shopping for groceries, and reside within the city limits of Aurora, Biwabik, Buhl, Chisholm, Cook, Eveleth, Gilbert, Hibbing, Hoyt Lakes, Mt. Iron, Tower-Soudan, and Virginia, Minnesota.

How does it work?
Call in your grocery order to Elder Services Network (218-735-8637) between 9:00 a.m. and noon on your store's Order Day. The next day a volunteer will deliver your groceries to your house along with the receipt and an envelope with which to mail the payment for the groceries directly to the store. The payment must be sent within one or two days of receiving the grocery delivery.

Rules
  • Before ordering the first time, you must contact Elder Services Network and register for the program.
  • You must order at least $10 worth of groceries.
  • You must remain at home to receive your groceries.
  • You must send payment for groceries to the store within 1-2 days of receiving the delivery.

The Groceries To Go program is a collaboration between Elderly Services Network and the participating grocery stores.
