The Mission of AccessNorth (Center for Independent Living of Northeastern Minnesota) is to assist people with disabilities to live independently, pursue meaningful goals, and have the same opportunities and choices as all.
Independent Living Skills Independent Living (I.L.) skills are the abilities used to function in the community and home. Employment, budgeting and money management, housing, transportation, etc. are all areas requiring I. L. skills. Persons with disabilities often do not have the opportunities to develop these necessary skills. To counteract this, CILNM offers a comprehensive independent living skills assessment and training program. Consumers desiring I.L. training can work with an I. L. Specialist to develop a goal plan customized to the consumer’s own needs.
