TeleCare - "The Call That Cares"

A friendly call is always welcome What is TeleCare?
TeleCare is a telephone reassurance program that matches a trained volunteer friend with an older adult who may be frail, homebound, ill, lonely, or disabled, to provide him/her with a daily call to help keep him/her safe and living at home.

How does TeleCare work?
A trained volunteer makes a local phone call to seniors who request this service. Calls are made at a prearranged time to meet the individual's needs. The frequency of calls can be tailored to a particular situation. Most calls will be made on a regular basis, providing the opportunity for friendships to develop.

How are services arranged?
TeleCare service can be arranged by the individual, their family, friends, physician, social worker, clergy, or anyone who cares. Contact ESN to arrange for a TeleCare coordinator to meet with the participant and schedule the service.

Who can receive TeleCare calls?
The TeleCare service is available to seniors 60 years of age and older who are frail, homebound, isolated or disabled and who live within our local calling area.

What happens if no one answers?
The participants agree to notify their TeleCare friend if they do not plan to be home for a scheduled call. Therefore, emergency measures will be instituted when a volunteer friend receives no answer.
